Saving as PDF/A from Word
- Open the document in Word
On Windows: File → Save As, and choose PDF as the file type.
- Open Options
The save dialog has an Options… button with a PDF/A (ISO 19005-1) check box.
- Save
The result follows the first version of the standard. Validate it before you submit it.
In LibreOffice: File → Export As → Export as PDF, where you can also choose the PDF/A version.
Already exported a normal PDF?
If the PDF was exported without the PDF/A option, or someone sent it to you, there is no need to redo it: drop it on the box above and pick the profile you need. The text stays selectable, because the converter keeps the original content whenever it can; when it cannot, it asks before converting pages as images.
